[jun.25.05] + martin Budapest, Hungary. Hungary, Hungary, Hungary, you were a delight! This was our first ever visit to this country and astonishingly it felt like a home crowd who with unbridled passion sang along to every word. It is a great time for us as a band to have the doorway of Europe opened to us so late in the day and to see such beautiful parts of the world that you never dreamed you would ever visit. There was 'fire' in the place tonight as it was the first big concert ever held in Hungary for the Church community, it felt like a piece of history was unfolding with every note the people sang. And sing they did! A crowd singing together is always magical, but a crowd singing as 'one' for God to touch their nation is like flicking the overdrive switch on my 1973 Mgb roadster and driving along Littlehampton seafront with the sun pouring in. Our 'mature' response to the Christian faith will always be cerebral but sometimes you just 'feel' the holy spirit blowing through a place, through your body, through your senses. It's like driving with the roof down, someone has taken the lid off and the very breathe of God envelopes you. Suddenly your tiny car radio sounds like it's in 5.1 surround and the boot has been turned into a sub woofer! Can there be a more exciting life than this? To be at peace with your maker and constantly be in front of crowds who contain present and future world changers, it's the raw passion and the people that keep us sharp, not the other way round. If the career of Delirious? is like a 24hr day then we still feel its only 10.00 in the morning and afternoon tea feels like an eternity away! Hungary, you were full of beauty and more gifts than we could carry home, till next time, we love you.
